Join us in celebrating the opening of Quest on Thursday, August 1st, from 5–8 pm, during First Thursday Art Walk. This exhibition will present the latest works by four distinguished artists who masterfully employ techniques in glass, wood, and oil painting. The featured artists include Backhaus Brown and Egeværk, Jason Christian, Kait Rhoads, and Joe Shlichta.
Quest: Mastery in Glass, Wood, and Oil delves into a mystical world of Viking maritime history, folkloric beasts, landscapes, and seascapes, highlighting exceptional craftsmanship and artistic technique. The new Glasskibe by Backhaus Brown and Egeværk explore Viking maritime history through carved glass (battuto) and hand-formed wood sculpture. Joe Shlichta presents a large-format oil painting, using monochromatic tones to evoke the movement and perspective of a stormy ocean. Jason Christian’s glass sculptures blend traditional Venetian techniques with contemporary forms, exemplified by his Dragon and Yo-Yo sculptures. Kait Rhoads will feature her Sea Stones, which are meticulously constructed from open murrine glass and copper wire.
