Vetri is pleased to present New Work, the debut Vetri exhibition by Andrew Hayes and Nancy Stentz, opening Saturday, October 4, 3–5pm. This exhibition runs in conjunction with Museo Gallery’s exhibition of their work on Whidbey Island, extending our collaboration that began last month.
Hayes makes his regional debut with sculptural works that transform books and steel into modernist forms, exploring the relationships between mass, texture, and material. Stentz, in contrast, presents abstract 2-D compositions in mixed media, digital layering, and printmaking, which emphasize rhythm, balance, and improvisation.
Hayes’s work is in the collections of th Museum of Fine Arts Houston, Yale Art Museum, Fuller Craft Museum, and the Ritz-Carlton. He studied at Northern Arizona University and completed the Core Fellowship at Penland School of Crafts, where he has also taught. Additionally, he has taught at Haystack and Anderson Ranch.
Since 2002, Stentz has focused on a studio practice combining mixed media, digital layering, and printmaking. Based on Whidbey Island, she works from a studio and metal shop she built with her husband, David. Her background in graphic and letterform design informs her abstract works, which are defined by rhythm and balance.
New Work will be on view October 4 – November 1, 2025.
