Lynn Read
Lynn Read is highly regarded for technical innovation and distinctly creative work employing a diverse array of techniques. Read uses color and form to create modern designs that blur the lines between functional glass and sculptural form. Lynn creates complex murrine pattern work that is mouth-blown into vessel forms, exquisitely arranged with continuous linear patterns that occasionally fragment, further accentuating the glass’s ability to refract light and color. Lynn Read studied at the Maryland Institute of Art, Penland School of Crafts, Pratt Fine Arts, and Pilchuck Glass School. He has been on the teams of major glass artists Lino Tagliapietro and Eva Zeisel and is a Gaffer and Narrator at Corning Museum of Glass. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Pilchuk Hauberg Fellowship, Autonoma Residency in Murano, and the John and Mary Shirley Scholarship from Pratt Fine Arts Center, Seattle. He has been featured in Elle Decor, Metropolitan Home, and LUXE magazines and is featured in gallery exhibitions and private collections throughout the world.
Read is the owner, designer, and force behind Vitreluxe, a Portland, OR-based glass production studio. Click here to see the latest work.
