Jesse Michael Bach

When Jesse Michael Bach was 4 years old, he recalls visiting a ceramic studio while on a field trip. The class went ahead and left him behind with a potter who was turning bowls on her pottery wheel. She took the time to teach him to play with the clay and this is where his hands fell in love with the touch of materials. He was struck by the softness and smoothness of the sponge touching the clay.

For Bach, glass has been a way for his hands to express what’s in his heart. Glass is a unique medium that has a quality that gives us a peek at something divine, something mysterious. Bach earned his BFA from New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and works with Seattle artist John Kiley.
