Justin Parker

Justin Parker is a seasoned glass artist with over three decades of experience. He began blowing glass in 1990 in San Francisco and honed his skills through studies at Pilchuk and time spent learning from European masters like Pinot Signoretto and Petr Novotny. After moving to New York, Parker taught glassblowing and sculpture at Parsons, NYU, and Cooper Union while working at Urban Glass. His collaborations have included notable artists such as Robert Rauschenberg, Kiki Smith, and Tony Oursler, among others. In 2004, Parker relocated to Portland, OR, and, with Andi Kovel, co-founded Esque Studio, where they pioneered the fusion of glassblowing with contemporary design. After 20 years, he transitioned to Justin Parker Glass, focusing on his signature series, THICKIES , which feature weighty, minimalist glass sculptures that reveal intricate details and optic phenomena. Inspired by the techniques of Harvey Littleton and Dominick Labino, Parker’s work continues to embody his deep appreciation for the beauty of thick glass and expressive potential.
