Pastor Anthony Steele of Allen AME Church in Tacoma commissioned a glass installation piece titled “Forgive” to reflect on the tragedy at the AME church in Charleston, S.C., where eight parishioners and the pastor were shot to death. Nine blue teardrops, representing those who were killed in the shooting, will hang among three hearts, representing those who survived. Below the tears and hearts, a blue pool will ripple out. Amid the tears will be a cross, and Pastor Anthony Steele’s word: “forgive.”
The commission was completed by the Hot Shop team at the Museum of Glass Tacoma, made up of Benjamin Cobb, Gabe Feenan, and Sarah Gilbert.
