“A wonderment of design and science first infected me as a boy — reading science fiction stories, watching NASA launches on television, seeing futuristic films, and spending long hours in the creative playroom of my own imagination.” Rik Allen imparts a combination of antique spacecraft and scientific experiment in his sculptures. His creations elicit a nostalgic sense of adventure and take us on journeys within our own imaginations.
Rik Allen lives and works in Skagit County, Washington state with his wife and fellow artist Shelley Muzylowski Allen. After earning a BA in Anthropology from Pierce College, he attended Pilchuck Glass School in 1994, and later worked on the William Morris sculpture team for 12 years. His work exhibited widely and held in numerous public and private collections. For additional sculptures by Rik Allen, view his work at Traver Gallery. Read more about the artist in American Craft.
