Material+Movement reclaims vintage and used china, transforming it into wearable design. Using the composition on the plate, elements are hand cut and carved into simple shapes. These shapes are then arranged into compositions informed not only by each element but the imagery on their surface. The jewelry is finished using gold fill and sterling silver findings.

Heather Kraft is a glass artist turned ceramic cold worker. In 2009, she started Material+Movement, a practice that takes vintage ceramic china and repurposes it into jewelry for the conscious world. She hopes she can give relevant purpose to otherwise forgotten, outdated objects. She lives and works in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, Washington.
