Jill Allan’s work is influenced by Scandinavian designs. With her Constellation Bowl series, the properties of glass allow her to manipulate light. Pattern and surface texture are characteristic features of her sculpture pieces. Systems of patterns and repetitive forms, especially patterns she comes across in her daily life, are common themes that she explores. With her work, she aims to engage the viewer in a contemplative, subtle experience.
Originally from Vancouver Island, Canada, Jill Allan has a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design and an MFA in Glass from Bowling Green State University. Her work is included in the collections of the Canadian Craft Museum, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Alberta College of Art and Design.
