Boyd Sugiki was first introduced to glass in 1986 at Punahou High School in Honolulu, Hawaii. He earned a BFA from California College of Arts and Crafts and a MFA from RISD. His work combines innovative glass blowing techniques with a modern approach to design. Sugiki creates sculptural and functional blown glass objects as well as two-dimensional works in paper. His functional works are finely crafted decorative objects that he hopes people will take pleasure in using. The sculptural work is inspired by architecture he has seen during his travels.
He co-owns Two Tone Studios, a line of contemporary designed hand blown glass objects with Lisa Zerkowitz.
