Raised in the mountains of Colorado, nature has played a major role in Alix Cannon’s life and artistic career. However it was not until she moved to New York City that she discovered her passion for artistic expression and the glass-making process. Now based in Seattle, WA Cannon has taught at Pilchuck Glass School, receiving their 2015 People’s Choice Award, was a Visiting Artist in Residence at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma, WA and regularly works with Nancy Callan.
Alix Cannon’s work is inspired by nature’s repetition and symmetry, such as that of a leaf. Utilizing traditional cane work, Cannon designs linear patterns that once blown into a three-dimensional form, emulate natural patterning in a simple and sophisticated way.
