During the month of September, Vetri will present Time Well Spent, a solo show featuring stunning handblown glass goblets by Michael Schunke. Opening on Thursday, September 1st, this marks the first show at Vetri in over a decade devoted solely to the art of goblet making.
Michael Schunke will be filling the gallery with dozens of stunning goblets; some comprised of neodymium glass and others illuminated with gold leaf. Michael has devoted years perfecting the art of goblet making, developing his own artistic style and voice through experimentation with form and pattern. While rooted in historic Venetian style and technique, his newest goblets are fresh in design.
Schunke is a contemporary American artist and designer based in Chester County, Pennsylvania. He has dedicated his life to the practice of glassmaking. A former Associate Professor at the Toyama City Institute of Glass Art in Japan, he continues to teach glassmaking, most recently at Pilchuck Glass School and Corning Museum of Glass. He has completed residencies at the Museum of Glass-Tacoma and the Toledo Museum of Glass, and his work is held in the collections of museums internationally. Schunke co-operates Vetro Vero with partner Josie Gluck.
